Study, and Art Instruction: Jack White, oil painter, Texas, and Jenny Goalen, North Wind arts Gallery in oils, and acrylics,Siren,WI, many art resource books purchased from North Light Book Club, BAAG members in Siren,WI. Lots of doing and hands on experience as I develop yearly goals to improve upon my techniques.

My artistic process: I travel to wilderness, or nature areas in WI or ND and using a high resolution digital SRL Canon camera, with 100-400 mm zoom lens, I record the wildlife in their natural setting, recording their natural behaviors. I spend hundreds of hours a year in the field especially during spring migration and fall migrations. Upon returning to our studio, I sketch in my sketchbook, and proceed to sketch on the painting canvas. If everything in the sketch looks like a good work, I begin the painting process. I love to portrait these beautiful animals in a way you see all the beautiful colors and wonder in each painting. This past year has ben my first year selling my original art work on ebay.com. For the 11 months on ebay I have sold close to 60 paintings, about 70% oils and 20% watercolors, and acrylics about 10%.

Art memberships: Member of the American Watercolor Society

Artistic developments: In 2009, I developed a whole new watercolor technique, that allows me to paint on a special 1/8" thick hard board panel, that generates truly rich and vibrant colorful images that can compete with oil and acrylic mediums. In so doing, I used this new watercolor technique to paint the 2009-2010 Federal and Wisconsin Duck Stamp Competitions, which was one of my artistic goals last year. My goal this year is to paint the Burnett County history paintings, and gift this work to local historian and gentleman, Clayton Jorgenson from Grantsburg,WI.

The whys of painting wildlife: I love animals and want to share that love with the public, and to create awareness of the importance of all animals. Our animals are very important to our existence as people. When painting, I combine realism and sometimes blend with impressionism, making for a pleasing and exciting visual experience.

Your contribution: When you buy an original, Jim Springett, you receive a letter of authenticity signed by me, Jim Springett.  Part of your proceeds goes to help our children's local art programs and helping to promote more of the arts locally in Burnett County,WI.
