In today's blog, I'm sharing one of my oil paintings, called "waking up" as you can see this trumpeter swan is flexing and stretching his wings after having been in rest for some time.
This year has been a resting year for me, painting many wildlife scenes and an occasional portrait. In this time I've painted with watercolor, oil and acrylics. I enjoy all the mediums but my love is watercolor-so that is my choice for my work going forward. That's a good step since each medium has it's own unique properties I find watercolors like no other medium and I do not fight working with watercolors and I look to this special relationship as an artist.
I started a project in 2005, before my father was diagnosed with lung cancer and since his passing have put this on hold. Now I am coming back to that which is Holy and am starting this journey. It's a love story and will not be something that can be finished in a short time frame, since I am beginning at the beginning then working my way through my story and relationship with those I love. I have not decided whether to share my color plates as I work or to wait and see how this body of work comes together and making available at a later time.
For this new year's celebration cast out your fears, speak gently, and love often--peace to you.
