Batchelor Bunch

To all the folks loving wild horses, these four stallions in TRNP, are among the last of a shrinking breed in North Dakota. I envisoned their lives for moments watching these stallions work across the praire in the badlands, stopping at the edge of a cliff too steep to go down, although they were thinking about it, then thought otherwise. I have loved this simple image of a group of 2 year old stallions not yet breeding, but getting ready. This is in September, so breeding season is long past but next year in May and June, however, might show promise, and the male battles that follow.

We enjoy watching these wild horses and do so for hours on end. Marge was blessed by the presence of a special white stallion shortly after her father's passing in 1992, then in 1996 I was blessed and he showed himself to me as well. We call him the "spirit horse", mysteriously he comes and then disappears. This painting is to all these special animals here in North Dakota, may they always remain free, and hopefully the people as well.

Have a good day!

Jimmy
