A Horse named "Mystery."

In today's blog most folks in our NW WI neigbor hood do not know much about the wild horse situation in the state of NV...a lot of land is listed as Bureau of Land management...the wild and open valley's in-between the mountains is good grazing for the wild horses...and so they mulitply each year. The stallion I've painted for today's blog is "mystery"... a great name...he is protecting his herd of mares and young in Theodore Roosevelt National Park...from time to time the park management round up horses then cart them to a local town like Dickenson,ND..and have an auction...pretty tough and arduous path for free and wild animals...In NV the horse stories by articles I read from the Toldeo Blade, from Toledo,Ohio say as many as 2,500 are to be rounded up...but no mention what a government body is doing in the people's horse business in the first place..or no mention where the horses are going.
Being an artist...if any of you horse loving artists want to help..maybe we can paint some beautiful horse portriats of these special animals...send them to NV and they can sell the original paintings on auction...the money then used to help feed and house these special horses until they find their proper home...I'd be willing to paint  a dozen different horses and donate the paintings...If the ranchers can send to me their horse photos I can work from there..I'll include my mailing address just send the photos to me I'll do the rest...I'll contact those who can then collect these original paintings for an auction at a later time.
Send photo's to Jim Springett...25898 Peterson Road...Webster,WI 54893...I'll do the portraits in 14" x 11" oil on stretched canvas...
Let's support our NV ranchers and the wild horses...until good homes can be found...in the mean time take care and God Bless...Jim Springett-artist

A Dad's Love In Tough Times

We are a blessed people...I am so grateful for having such a loving dad. During a tougher time in my life...after going through an emotional divorce, my youngest son, Norm, and I went to Toledo to visit my parents. In times like this they were a calm in the brewing storms of life. In 1991, the year we got divorced I started to go to painting and sketching as a means to soothe my emotions and my feelings. While we were visiting, my dad had this very small image of the "Watchtower" in Arizona...an ancient two story tower made by hand with stones, that the American Indians used to study the heavens. At the time, I did not not recognize this monument of the ages...but though a couple of days of painting outdoors, I finished a beautiful watercolor and before leaving for Wisconsin I matted and framed and presented this painting to him as a loving gift...the real gift all these years later is the simple fact of his loving concern. He was very happy and accepted this painting of the "Watchtower" and enjoyed this all the rest of the days of his life. Tomorrow is January 23, and on this day in 2006, was my dad's passing into his heavenly home, so our family is honoring dad, such a caring and beloved soul.

So here is my early watercolor...celebrating God's love and honoring his name...Jesus. If you have a moment to share your gifts with your mom and dad pass along your gifts and spend your days loving them...there will be a moment when they too will pass...all understanding, and head to their heavenly home. Honoring our parents is honoring God...for God has put our parents in charge for the work of raising and teaching his young. Our parents accepted this responsibility, and we are very happy to celebrate in life...thank you dad!! With our love..Jim, Marge, Karen,Aunt Irene,Rene,Randy,RalceyIII, Ralcey,Julie,Faron,Chris,Ginni,Cj,Grace,Jack,Norm,Jesse,Joel,Norm,Nathan,King,Autumn,Pepper Girl,Abraham,Bubba, and Little Girl...generations of love and care...

" a goose and her gooslings"
"A goose and her gooslings"...is an original oil painting on stretched canvas, 11" x 14", this painting is especially unique with warm colors...the light from the orange sunset sky is reflecting on the water, geese, and reeds. Crex Meadows is a unique bird refuge in NW Wisconsin, where the birds are presenting beautiful images throughout the spring, summer and fall right up to migration...and they help me create beautiful paintings...in January when the temperatures are sub zero...I'm in the studio painting this summer scene, brings back all the sounds, smells and sights. I hope you enjoy...if you go to www.ebay.com, and in the search box put jimmy springett, my art work is available for your bids. I use the 10 day bid cycle on all my wildlife paintings. Spring's Migration

Spring's migration

Here we are, just about mid January, and in about 60 days the migration will be returning to their homes and nesting waters. In today's painting, a 14" x 11" oil paitning on stretched canvas, is a drake and hen merganser ducks on the partially open and frozen water in mid March. These birds are so colorful and the light was beautiful and this gives me a chance to continue painting more ducks in preparation for the duck stamp competition later this new year...a lot of great ducks will be returning in March and the spring migration is such a joyful event. For a month the birds slowly stream back to their nesting areas, some are migrating further north into Canada, and only visit to rest for a week, then fly on their way home. The trumpeter swans are usually the first to arrive and many times with no water, they sit patiently on the snow covered waters, welcoming the other geese and ducks, even the sandhill cranes. Enjoy the winter and just know the warmer air of spring is being made at this time...on the wings of the returning birds...

" once upon a time "

Happy New Year....much is to be happy  in our new year...it is a time to work, to play, and to worship our God. Being grateful for our blessings is a cornerstone in the fabric of our daily lives.
My painting today, called " once upon a time " is a buffalo and he is basking in the sun's glow...you can feel the warmth of the sun on his face and his character is what it is...he is buffalo.  At an earlier time in our nation's history buffalo roamed freely on the prairie...helping to sustain our land's people....today we have buffalo but only in limited areas and while many fewer these animals are a reminder of our countries responsibilty to many other animals...not to contain and decimate that which is not meant to be decimated. To live and let live that is our challenge and my hope is that our country can heal and see a clearer path in this new year.
If you have that special animal portrait you've been thinking about contcat me with your ideas and let me paint that keep sake painting. Have a great day...
