Jimmy’s eNews-Letter    Springett Images LLC

Theme: American Bald Eagle

Medium: Oil, on Stretched Canvas

Price: To John's Family in Texas

Framed: No,called"John's journey to the sky"

A friend sent me the story of Sgt. John Reiners, an

American serving his nation in Afghanistan...doing his best to help

his fellow man. After several tours in Iraq...he was currently

deployed in Afghanistan. We have two great sons, who we have not

lost to war or accident and so this wonderful family is hurting

with John's loss on February 13,2010. After hearing about such

a great young man it was apparent the current painting of a great

bald eagle needs to be sent to his family in Texas..so on Monday I

will pack it..ship it and say a blessing that his family may come

to find peace where there is hate, and may love abide. To you

John..thank you for your service, your caring and for your sacrifice.

The Lord says in Mathew 5, verse 4.." blessed are those who mourn

for they shall be comforted." Amen.

"guardians"
Once March arrives we'll be looking for the "guardians"...trumpeter swans...these beautiful birds fly back home before the other migrating birds, and prepare the way. These trumpeter swans were in Crex Meadows resting in the early morning sunshine. A friend of ours, Mary, who kindly serves us breakfast every Sunday morning..bless you...and a real animal lover..she and her husband and children love dogs too will be receiving this wonderful painting...I have many swan paintings to make and I am looking forward to this coming March and the return of the trumpeter swan in Crex Meadows. Enjoy Sunday, blessings to everyone.

"Rice Lake National Bird Refuge Beauty"

In today's blog the painting is of a drake wood duck in early April in Rice lake National Bird Refuge, and although the hen is present is not visible in this painting. This is an original oil painting on masonite hard board with a special coated gesso surface for beautiful vivid colors. Painting on hard board is not easy and is very different than canvas. This painting is going to the owners of Adventure Restaurant in our community as a gift, Marge and I enjoy visiting and eating their very good food. The owners, Gary and his wife Juli are avid outdoor people and love to see birds in our area. We hope they enjoy.

Blue and green beauty

Today's painting is a green crowned hummingbird from South America, beautiful blues and green in the light. This is an 8" x 10" original oil painting on masonite hard board, with gesso'd surface. I have this painting on ebay for those interested in bidding and I'll ship to Canada, UK, and USA using US PS. I mounted this painting on a 1 1/2" cradle box in natural oak and is finished in the natural with varnish...can be sat on a table or desk top or easily wall mounted...no additional framing is necessary.

This is a current wood duck oil painting in progress, " on a log" from Wild Rice National Bird Refuge in McGregor,MN...last year I painted ducks for the duck stamp and this year I am painting more ducks, later for the Federal Duck Stamp Competition. I will finsih this wood duck today and repost so you can see the final composition..it is a very challenging painting...but the wood duck loves the dense woody cover and blends in so well. Stay tuned for the finished touches..

Hi to all you horse loving people, this is for a special family living in Reno, NV who a few years ago saved a horse...his great name today is "Little One", but as you can see he is not little...he is a mustang born in the valley's between the mountains in NV. When the horse numbers get too high the ranchers round up a few mustamngs and burros and they find new homes. Cindy is a horse loving person and their whole family have the mustang horses, broken and now a great part of their families...thanks to family and friends helping to make a good home for these wild horses...I am doing some paintings for donation to this EXPO in August 20-22...so they can auction and with the money help feed and find homes for the many wild mustangs and burros being rounded up since last Christmas.

Here is the contact information if you'd like to be a part of the Expo...contact Cindy...she'll help you find the horse of your dreams...or if you have something to donate that can later be auctioned to help this effort...contact Cindy.

" a hen's beauty"

called "a hen's beauty"

About a year ago I was in Crex Meados doing some duck watching when I saw this beautiful hen, and she
was so beautiful with her earth tone colors so when she sits on her nest she will be one with her environment...blending
into the surroundings so that other animals do not notice her...while her mate is close by to warn of any danger.
Blue winged teal ducks come back fairly early in the spring, toward the end of March we start to see pairs arriving in
Crex with nesting in late April and early May. The birds will be coming in less than a month and now I am
starting to paint ducks of all kinds in preparation for this years duck stamp competitions. It is a good time/
Enjoy this painting...stop in on ebay and palce a bid if you like..8 plus days left on the bidding cycle.

Starting my next series of duck paintings...this drake wood duck is an original oil painting on masonite board that has been gesso'd in a 9" x 12" panel size. I like the colors and the brightness. I'll be prepapring more duck paintings now in preparation for the 2010 Federal Duck Stamp Competition...due in mid August. I'll be painting in oils this year to try some new techniques so in this process I have a lot to learn as I paint.I hope you enjoy.

Happy Valentine's Day

a bouquet of roses
In a few days,Valentine's Day will be here...in this painting today is a dozen red roses to enjoy. Can you smell the aroma? After Valentine's Day, in early March the trumpeter swans will be returning followed by the ducks and geese. Spring is a time to celebrate after coming through the snowy winter months if living in the northland, and the sun begins to feel warm once again. The maple trees start to bud and the sap starts to run for those tapping for syrup making. Early this morning while out with Bubba our lab, the barred owl was calling..with her mate answering not far away. The ravens and crows are pairing up..soon the nest building will begin and there have been sightings of robins and red wing black birds...a little early but sometimes they know what we learn later.
Enjoy your Sunday's Valentine's day celebration with those you love.

"All together now", sandhill cranes in September.

all together now
Sandhill cranes in September are working hard to keep their young flying and getting in shape for their long flight to New Mexico. In this painting the adults are leading the way with the young bird following. Crex Meadows is a haven for sandhill carnes and each fall the migration builds to many thousand birds and about mid November when the first hard snow and cold arrives they leave. We enjoy this sight and look forward to their return in March.
