"A Loving Family" canada goose

Today is the last day of May, for this year and tomorrow is June 1, here in Webster  we have a short 3 months left and summer is gone, with another wintery period coming. This painting called," a loving family" and I paintted this canada goose family to celebrate the beauty of new life and the constant job of the parents caring for their young, and today this painting is dedicated to all the families who have loved ones in harms way, or who have lost loved ones, for any reason...no matter the why, and are learning to live day by day. Healing from great loss takes daily courage in the face of community which suggests to pick up the pace as nothing has happened, or to get back in the saddle,  that is the quick worldly view, and not the loving view. Healing takes a lot of time in fact takes the rest of peoples lives, and as long as people have breath to breathe the stories are real, and the emotions are true and the love for their family that has been lost is never ending...the key is love, just like these canada goose parents...a constant love force, unseen yet ever visible when viewing these geese..and the beauty is in looking at the young, and the comfort the little goosling has staying close to their parents. God's great plan at work in all life. A very loving family in Texas, I'll call them the Smith's these are great Americans helping everyday, earning their daily bread and extending their hands to helping others, in 2006 they lost their dear daughter through an unseen killer, a sudden blood clot, and while her life of 28 years has now ended she lives in the hearts of her parents and her loved ones. Our families are our reasons for getting up each day, and the loss is real, and today while we celebrate Memorial Day, I do not think we can foregt right here, now in our homes the love that passes all understanding. Moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandmothers, grandfathers, cousins, stepdads and stepmoms, neighbors, friends and strangers, may God's love abide in your hearts everyday, and in your souls and may you know you are all doing the best, your love is no mistake and is all that will carry today, tomorrow and forever long God has you walking here on his earth...did you hear this is God's earth unless you've been led to believe in some other life force..this is God's creation and we are God's people. One God. Peace to you and your loving families, now and forever more.

"Loving Is His Name"

Yesterday was a very sweet day, sunny skies, no clouds, only a slight breeze and many people came to the Webster Art Fair Extravaganza in Webster,WI. I had prepared for this year's show, with no paintings, and only 9 days before the show coming on Sat May 29...on thursday afternoon..I finished my 10th painting so I had accomplished much in 9 short days. Friday was a preparatory day..varnish the paintings and let dry in the sun, on a warm Friday morning, then all the small details of getting all the equipment and materials ready..show time for me is not a sit on my butt time...I love to paint and so that is what I do each year, start a new painting before the show opens and finish..and to celebrate our Memorial Day with our fellow citizens I donate this painting to the lucky ticket drawn, I try to finish the painting and at 330PM, just 30 minutes before the show closes, I ask a young friend, this year my friend was Rachel, to help me mix the names in the hat and then we call to share the good news, and confirm shipping arrangements if not a local winner. The drawing took place at 335PM  and the winning ticket was none other than her grandmother, Gloria...wow what a wonderful gift. This family lives in MN, so after completitng the painting next week, I'll ship this whitetail fawn painting to it's new home, bringing much good and wonderful memories over our Memorial Day weekend celebration. I thank all my friends who came to see me and wish me well, thank you for the kindness. Just as a reminder, on August 7 and September 25, I'll be in two more local art shows, the first a Burnett Art Festival at Lakeside Event Center in Siren, WI (next to Radio Shack on Hwy 35)and on September 25 in the Siren Harvestfest in Crooked lake Park in Siren ( across the street from the Adventurer's Restaurant and The Lodge resort). I'll also be in the Gandy Dancer Day celebration for Webster ( on the Webster City Hall sidewalk painting live), and when I get that date, I'll get back to everyone.

Have a great rest of the Memorial Day weekend today..and a prayerful Memorial Day tomorrow, rememebring those who have gone before us, in God's name...may God richly bless all our land and all our people.

Webster, WI Art Fair Extravaganza, May 29, Saturday

Each spring I look forward to meeting with our community here in Webster,WI, a small rural town in NW Wisconsin. Marge and I retired here in 2006, giving up our way of life as we knew it, to live and work together in our new community doing what we love. For me being an artist is very exciting, and a painting is very theraputic, very calming and a high in a world noted for wanting it's due course. Art is on my terms, my time and my space not for a board or for stockholders. Don't get me wrong I have a great respect for our working corporations, but when I realized that time was of the essence, both of us decided to give this part of our journey energy and enthusiasm. This is my third year in the Webster Art Fair and I have come to enjoy the sound of all the people, especially the children with their cotton candy and popcorn, what is a fair without the comfort foods?
This year my theme is called, "the goose in Crex" and is a series of original oil paintings, hopefully close to 22, on 9" x 12" to 11" x 14" gesso coated masonite hard board, of new and vibrant works showing the lives of the canada goose in Crex Meadows, near Grantsburg,WI. Marge and I spend a great deal of time here and we love this wilderness near our home. So this is a celebration of this year's spring migration and the return of these special birds, today's painting will be in the show so if you like come and see. I have one of my canada goose paintings on ebay, to end later over the weekend..if you go on ebay, www.ebay.com and in the search box, top left side of page, type Jim Springett, this original painting of a canada goose family will come up..it's being bid on now, currently with 3 bids...one has a chance of a winning bid so give this a try if you have not tried by now.
As a way of encouraging people to come and visit with me, and to watch me paint, as I did last year, I am going to paint  live, on site, an original oil painting, subject yet to be determined and just for stopping by and thowing your name in a hat, you might be the lucky person to win this painting free. I am donating this painting to a lucky person, young, or older, no age requirements..just toss your name in the hat. Last year I painted an original on a 22" x 30", black bear sow and her cub and a young man from near the Twin Cities was the lucky recepient of this finished work. Come and enjoy the day outdoors and visit with your local artists, have a great weekend. Find the perfect gift that says to that special someone...you are special. Art is a tresure you can share, and when you buy my work this is authentic, original painting, not a print, and you will receive with each painting a letter of authenticity signed by me, Jim Springett and this record is to stay with your painting as proof of authenticity.

" A Loving Family"....Canada Goose

by Jim Springett-artist on 5/13/2010 8:23:00 PM
Comment on this

" A Loving Family" is a canada goose family in Crex Meadows. Today I saw this trio again in the early morning light, swimming and feeding as a light rain fell. I'm dedicating my Federal Duck Stamp painting to the canada goose species this year. My mom who is no longer with us...loves the canada goose as does her sister, my Aunt Irene...to both of you we celebrate your good lives, and all your kindness that did not go un-noticed.
For me nature is the essence of all life on earth for without our animals, reptiles, and birds, life as we have come to enjoy can not exist. Taking care of our land, water, and air is key to the human species survival, for to ignor any one of the three legs of the chair will cause the chair to crash and so will man.
I paint this grandeur and beauty to help show the magnificence of life, all life, and to share and give back to you my customer..thank you for supporting my efforts and know the good of one is the good of all, the hurt of one is the hurt of all..take care, and have a good day.
